What is Canstruction?
San Diego's top Architects and Engineers are competing in a design-build competition to create giant works of sculptural art, made entirely out of canned and packaged foods! These structures are up to 8 feet tall and 10 feet wide! No interior structural support is allowed. These are solid structures made entirely out of canned food. The Architects and Engineers will be judged and the winners will be announced at the Gala that evening. Once the structures are taken down, all of the food is donated to local San Diego food banks. Canstruction provides the opportunity for the design industry to become involved in a pressing social issue, while their creativity involves them in a national competition that brings recognition, offers team bonding opportunities, and instills a sense of pride knowing "one can" really make a difference.
Is there a cost?
No cost! We are asking visitors to bring a can of food to help feed San Diego's hungry families, because "one can" really can make a difference!
