Canstruction 2011

The planning has begun for our next Canstruction event, which will take place in April 2011 downtown in Horton Plaza.  Start thinking about what wonderful structure your team can create out of food cans and get those donations lined up.  More details to follow - stay posted. To enter a team for next year’s event, contact Steven Glynn or Tito Tuang.

What is Canstruction?

Canstruction San Diego's top Architects and Engineers compete annually in a design-build competition to create giant works of sculptural art, made entirely out of canned foods! These structures are up to 8 feet tall and 10 feet wide! No interior structural support is allowed. These are solid structures made entirely out of canned food. The Architects and Engineers are judged and the winners announced at the Gala. Once the structures are taken down, all of the food is donated to local San Diego food banks.

Watch a Canstruction

Canstruction provides the opportunity for the design industry to become involved in a pressing social issue, while their creativity involves them in a national competition that brings recognition, offers team bonding opportunities, and instills a sense of pride knowing "one can" really make a difference. Start Canstructing!

Where does it Take Place?

There are 130 different locations throughout the United States & Canada. The 2011 Canstruction San Diego event will take place in downtown San Diego at Westfield Horton Plaza.

Is there a cost?

No cost! We are asking visitors to bring a can of food to help feed San Diego's hungry families, because "one can" really can make a difference!
